Efficient Pumping Systems
Energy Efficiency Strategy for University Students
Individualised Marketing Trial for Householders
Passive Solar Building Design Workshops
Regional Energy Expo
Subiaco Sustainable Demonstration Home DVD

Bunbury ecoHOME Promotion:
South West Regional College of TAFE - $45,600

The South West Regional College of TAFE will undertake a promotional campaign to publicise the Bunbury ecoHOME, a 'live-in-model' house that demonstrates ecologically sustainable design and high energy efficiency standards. The campaign will involve the distribution of printed materials and DVD's and the presentation of educational forums, expos and seminars. The project will also include market research to identify the best methods of promoting energy efficient housing and to identify the barriers to its wider uptake.

Further information on the Bunbury ecoHOME is available at www.bunburyecohome.com.

Energy Efficiency Strategy for University Students:
Green Skills Inc. - $27,250

Green Skills will work with staff and management at Murdoch University to develop and implement an energy efficiency strategy for the student village. The strategy, which follows on from an earlier energy audit of the facilities, is aimed at achieving behavioural change within the village. Green Skills plans to increase student awareness of energy efficient practices through the presentation of an information forum and the dissemination of educational materials. It will also undertake a survey of students to ascertain energy use patterns and attitudes and will monitor energy use.

Individualised Marketing Trial for Householders:
Southern Metropolitan Regional Council - $30,000

The Southern Metropolitan Regional Council will trial an individualised marketing campaign to encourage 200 householders in the City of Canning and the Town of Victoria Park to practice energy efficiency at home. The project builds on individualised marketing previously undertaken in these areas as part of the TravelSmart program. The target group of householders will be contacted via mail and telephone to ascertain their interest in practicing energy efficiency in the home. Interested householders will then be provided with support to achieve energy savings in the form of information materials and optional home visits.

Passive Solar Building Design Workshops:
Green Skills Inc. - $34,515

Green Skills, in cooperation with a solar architect, will present a series of workshops in regional and metropolitan areas to promote passive solar building design for new homes and home extensions. Green Skills will work with the Western Australian Local Government Association and local government officers to help deliver the workshops.

Regional Energy Expo:
Denmark Education and Innovation Centre - $21,500

The Denmark Education and Innovation Centre will hold an Energy Expo in Denmark during January 2007. The expo has been planned to coincide with the presentation of the Shire of Denmark's annual 'Energy Efficient Home Award' and will include several workshops and a bus tour of energy efficient buildings in the local area.

Subiaco Sustainable Demonstration Home DVD:
City of Subiaco - $10,000

The City of Subiaco has developed an interactive DVD to showcase the design features of Australia's most energy-efficient home, the Subiaco Sustainable Demonstration Home. While the home is no longer open to the public following to its sale in May 2006, the DVD will ensure that its features continue to be promoted to a range of audiences, including schools, universities, government agencies, builders and special interest groups. Funding for the project covered the energy efficiency components of the DVD only.

Volunteer Energy Assessors:
City of Subiaco - $5,000

The City of Subiaco will work in partnership with EcoSmart Pty Ltd to recruit and train five community volunteers to assess household energy use.
